Touching Hearts
“The desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. The desire to reach hearts is wise.”
Maya AngelouIt has been a lovely Sunday, sunshine to warm the soul and journal outside in the sun. The sun has set as I write this and the darkness descends upon us. But I wanted to update you on a short trip we will make. My dad’s graveside service will be on Wednesday morning the 17th at 9am in Follett, Texas. Sheree (my sister), Monica (my youngest daughter), and I are going to drive down leaving early on the 16th and stay one night in Perryton at the Quality Inn. We will visit with cousins and eat that evening at Clay and Jill’s house. At 9am the next morning we will gather around his grave site for a Celebration of Life and share individually something about how dad touched hearts, ours and many others. We will head back right after the service on the 17th. So, it will be a short trip down and back. I hope you had a wonderful Sunday!!

Open our hearts…
If we learn to open our hearts,
Pema Chodron
anyone, including the people who drive us crazy,
can be our teacher.I have come to see that my old thinking served me for a short period of my life. However, there came a time when I needed to unlearn, to let go of old ways of thinking, let go of how I perceived life, and let go of what I was taught, so that I could have a new basis for living. As long as I stay teachable, I will find keys to opening new locks of my heart, soul and thinking. And Pema is right, those who don’t unlearn can be my best teachers.
I see it’s hot almost everywhere, so stay cool!

The mystery of infinite possibilities
If it is true that we are made out of love to be love then our possibilities can be infinite…
mwsI have always been an early riser but with aging and the shift in my circadian rhythm, I invariably rise before the sun rises. I’m okay with that. But, that also means I post a lot of sunrise images. It is in these hours of silence, solitude and fatigue that I am learning to fully listen to the voice of love within me. It even seems to be louder and more persistent as time goes on. I hope I’m not rattling people’s cages when talking about love in our current political environment of hatred, self-interest and chaos. Many are in a place of grief, fear, and dismay. I can find myself going there quickly but thankfully not camping there, finding more restful and peaceful places to live. Writing this out is one of my tools. The above quote rattled around in my head last night and would not let me go back to sleep until I got up and wrote it down. I am at a place where possibilities are beyond and greater than my imagination, and maybe yours, also. I find myself full of questions and almost no answers while experiencing an unexpected gift of contentment, some inner okayness. And the questions come. What if a change in people’s hearts “is” a real possibility? What if the voices of hatred, chaos, drama, fear, greed can be silenced through love? What if letting go of our old patterns of thinking that power, money and privilege will bring peace, community, justice and the end of war? Because it never has! What if we let go of our finite thinking, which is often based in fear, and embrace the possibilities we’ve never dreamed of? What if we are made with love to be love? What if we let go of what we think are the only possibilities and embrace the mystery of infinite possibilities? Thanks for listening and I hope this has not been too confusing.

Listen With Their Hearts
the meadowlark sings his song
mws
from it’s perch atop an old fence post
what seems to be just a melody to some
is a beautiful song of love and hope
a gift carried by the wind to those
who will listen with their hearts -
Real Change
If any order is to be brought into the chaos of the modern world, if anything is to be salvaged from the wreckage and made the foundation of a better world in the future, this can only be done by those who have attained what Eckhart attained – loss of self and surrender to God in the Soul’s Ground. It is that, and that alone, which can produce real change, because in the last analysis the world can only be changed by changing the people who live in it.
Cyprian Smith, The Way of ParadoxWell, Emma said I was 37 minutes late for coffee this morning. I’ll not do that again!!! All kidding aside, I did sleep in late and arrived later than usual. And, her mocha tasted just just fine. I meet some friends at noon today and then been invited to a spring equinox celebration of Storytelling/Song/Poetry. I’ve never been to anything like this. I know three of the poets today so I will go see what it’s like.

Sprinkling of Hearts
I found these two hearts in the trunk of a large cottonwood tree along Fisher Nature Area a couple days ago. Since then I have found several others. I’m not sure but I think it is peoples way of saying thanks to first responders and front line health workers. Or, just passing along some love.
