“Only the blindness of habit convinces us that we continue to live in the same place, that we see the same landscape.”
John O’Donohue
Had an early meeting at Pineridge Natural Area with God, a few magpies, low clouds on the eastern horizon, silence and a cup of coffee to keep my hands warm. I watched nature put on a beautiful show of colors that helped keep me warm in the 15 degree cold. As O’Donohue suggests as long as I do not stay in a place of the blindness of my habits the landscape will provide something new for me to experience, and that is a gift. I stayed until the sun rose above the clouds and my hands and feet were cold. Have a great day and stay warm.

Very nice. That hint of snow in the foreground makes for an interesting addition to the scene. When I first saw it I thought it was sand, then I remembered it was probably not. 😉

Yes, it does give the hint of sand. A bit colder than sand. I missed that.

This is a fabulous image. I know I couldn’t do temps that cold, though. It’s 37 here and I’m waiting for 40 before I venture out to pick up some packages. 🤣

I do not handle the cold near like I did in my younger days. When I sit at home and curl up in my recliner to read or journal, I wrap myself in a wool stadium blanket. Yet, I can sit in my car and journal when it’s 15 degrees. I do get cold but the time there is always what I need. It’s at times like this that I think about those of our past who did not have the technology to stay warm that we take for granted. Stay warm!
