There are some strange people in this world, but you already knew that. And, when you give them a chance to express their weirdness with the Tour de Fat, they will jump on. Tour de Fat is bike-friendly fun for the whole family. They have a parade with some really strange people, live music, sideshows, and non-profit groups combine to make a great outlet for cyclists. It blends environmental stewardship with flat-out joy. These are images from previous years. This years event is this August 31st. I may find my way downtown with my camera and spare battery.

It looks like lots of fun and certainly a target rich environment for a photographer. Haha, yeah truth be known, we’re all strange in our own way. I applaud those who can embrace the fun of it. 🙂
Good collection of photos of the event. Have a great weekend, Monte!

Thanks, Brooks. Today is the city’s New West Fest. Lots of vendors, food, games for kids and music. I’ll probably avoid downtown most of afternoon and evening. Dang, I sound like I’m getting older.

When I first saw the title I thought, “Monte’s been hanging out at the Golden Corral again!” 😉
That parade was certainly a bit more eclectic than my Folkmoot parade, that’s for sure. Looks like quite a spectacle, and quite a few great photo opportunities. Takes a lot of guts to wear that Cookie Monster outfit, though! 🙂

The parade is sponsored by the New Belgium brewery so so the imbibing is allowing people’s inhibitions to be dropped. What I find interesting is how many people participate in it. For many its family time.

Ha ha, nice! But are you sure these people aren’t just commuters somewhere in Silicon Valley? Googlers perhaps 😉 That’s kind of how I imagine it would be 😀

Wat too funny, Cedric. Actually I could see you wearing the fluorescent green suit and a bike.
