“The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!” -Marvin Phillips
Keeping our eyes always alert allows us to find the “umph.” It shows when we least expect it. I again took one of the cameras for a walk, because I needed the walk. As I passed by this tree I noticed the light illuminating the pinecone in the shadows, making it the subject within a shadowed world. I leaned over the fence, composed, metered, focused and pressed the shutter. I imagined it was quite the sight to see my butt from the street. No one honked at me but I’m sure a few laughed. A little umph.

Your effort did result in a nice photo so who cares if they laugh.

And, no holes in my pants! 🙂

I don’t usually have the chance, but when someone walks by and asks me what I’m photographing, they don’t get it when I tell them, but when I can show them on the camera screen they are often surprised. I’m not at all surprised that you saw this, but I can only imagine what the people who saw you thought! Crazy photographer! 🙂

Insane! Should we call the police?

I think that most people who walk by and see us photographing something think just what Tom said: I wonder what they are taking a picture of … I don’t see anything “big”, “exciting”, “picture worthy”. Then, you show them and the next question is … How did you see that??? My answer: Practice! 🙂
Lovely shot, Monte. Obviously, you are well practiced or you have a really good camera! 😉

Yes, I do have a nice camera, in fact a couple of ’em. And, that practice creates in us an eye to see what many never see.

Beautiful shot Monte, bootyliscious we might say, you know, under the circumstances 😉

I like that word, “bootyliscious.”
