No landscape images this morning. Instead I’m going to post a couple of images of Tom and Kathy Dills from the short visit we had. Pretty impressive smiles from both of them considering the road miles they have put in. Driving from North Carolina to the northwest coast and back is not the same as a jaunt to the grocery store. And, include a pandemic and the fact most of the west coast seems to be on fire and you can understand the task they took on. This was yesterday morning at the newly opened Chicken Coop, a American Mexican restaurant nearby.
They arrived Sunday afternoon. After connecting up we drove to the Pineridge Natural Area and then to Reservoir Ridge Natural Area where we took a short walk to the rock. This is a location I enjoy because of the quiet and solitude I can experience. At the present time it’s not as quiet because they’re using the open field south of the natural area as a staging area for the helicopters battling the Cameron Peak fire. Kathy tried sitting on the uncomfortable rock and agreed it’s purpose is not long term sitting. They left yesterday morning and expect to arrive in Charlotte on Thursday. It was a short visit but hopefully there will be more opportunities.

Nice to see Tom and Kathy looking so happy, but Monte, seriously, you gotta get with the times, you should have been in that photo yourself mate. It’s called a selfie, apparently it’s all the rage. LOL, I’m kidding, this is a exceptionally pleasing portrait just as it is.
On a side note, I can’t believe that someone opened a new restaurant during a pandemic. So many places over here have closed up shop.

This restaurant opened about a week or two before the shutdown. I’m surprised they’re still open. They put out a big sign and did take out and delivery. Probably have no savings left.
Totally missed the selfie idea. Guess I’m really not with the times. Kathy did take a photo of Tom and I so probably see that on his blog.

Cedric, rest assured that I have the “selfie” covered and will have a full post in the next day or two. Not only do I have Monte in his “office” but I have a photo of him taking a photo of Kathy!
We had a nice visit, I only wish it could have been a bit longer. Between us being a bit road weary and the unpredictable conditions in Colorado we decided to make it a brief stop. But we’ll get back!

Yes, it was too short. We didn’t get to talk about Cedric. 🙂
Cedric
That’d be right, talk about the Aussie while he’s asleep in another time zone 8,000 miles away, LOL.
Looking forward to see those photos Tom 🙂
By the way sorry for the late reply, I only just realised I haven’t had any notifications of comments from this site for a while now. Weird.

When we make it to Australia we can talk about Monte. And Paul, Earl and the rest of the gang. Trying to figure out how to drive there. 🙂

You will need a waterproof car Tom. Talk to James, James Bond. I recall he had a Lotus Esprit that might do the trick. Just don’t pack too much, it doesn’t have much trunk space 😉

Such a treat to have visitors from afar. Tom and Kathy look marvelous, especially for having traveled so far by car. (I assume).

They were suppose to be home today so I hope they are unpacked and sleeping in their own bed tonight.

We were on our way back home from the Oregon coast. A nice road trip capped off by a visit with Monte! No stress there! 😉

How very awesome! Glad you folks met up! And what a good name for a restaurant!

Yes, good to see them. I also like the name. I’m gonna have to go back some time.
