Winter Wonderland

You were born to occupy a particular place within the community that ecophilosopher David Abram calls the more-than-human world. You have a unique ecological role, the way you are meant to serve and nurture the web of life, directly or through your role in society. At the level of soul, you have a specific way of belonging to the biosphere, as unique as any maple, moose, or mountain.

Bill Plotkin

I awoke to a beautiful winter wonderland this morning. More snow than I expected. I would guess 7-9 inches at my place but I know the mountains and down south received much more. After cleaning the car I headed to a coffee shop for a latte with some journaling time. I took the long way home so I could search out this winter wonderland, finding photo opportunities almost everywhere I turned. I felt that giddy feeling inside my soul! Scenes in nature do that to me. This scene is a row of trees along Overland Trail. I did not see that many tree branches damaged as it is a very wet and heavy snowfall. Weather app says we’ll see sun this afternoon so this will melt quickly and soak into the parched soil. It’s about 10:30 am and I think I have done well occupying my particular places this morning. Enjoy your Friday!!

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

It’s a beautiful scene. A little earlier in the season, I would have said I’d welcome some of that here, but now, in the middle of March, I think I’m ready to let winter go. It was in the mid-70s here yesterday, but it is now cooler and rainy. I’ve rolled back the cover from my ferns these last two weeks for a few days. I’ll do a follow-up post on them shortly. Have a good weekend, Monte!

I’m also ready to let winter go. It has been nice to see buds on trees, which lets me know spring is coming. This snow did bring a lot of much needed moisture. Since the higher elevations received greater amounts it is good for the state. Today is clear and sunny.

Quite a beautiful winter scene. Snow does give the landscape a pristine appearance. Have a good weekend, Monte.

I do like the beauty of winter scenes. I am also fond of the silence of falling snow. Today the snow continues to melt and bring the moisture we so need. It is also dirty, black and brown from the cars. This is Colorado so we are not necessarily done with snow this spring. Bring on the rain, instead. Have a good weekend, my friend!

Very peaceful and I can sense the quiet a snowfall brings. I don’t know what it is about the acoustics, but it seems to absorb sound. Beautiful scene – March is always a wild card for us – snow or no snow? The forecast has some possible by the end of next week.

March is a fickle month, for sure. As long as we can keep a cold front out of the area we will enjoy the rains of spring. As I’ve heard it said, the silence of a snowfall is deafening. Enjoy your Sunday!
