One day back in 2008 I found a Townsend Medalist Rollerball Pen made by Cross on the streets of Crystal City in Washington DC. It was very similar to this one except it was all silver. It was probably one of the nicest writing instruments I’d every used at that time in my life. By having a fine writing instrument I began to journal more and more often. I used it for a few months and then I lost it. I found the exact pen except with gold trim at Reagan Airport a couple weeks later and bought it. That’s what you see in this image. I’ve since moved on to fountain pens for an even more enjoyable writing experience.
For me there are three factors that have helped me in my journaling. One is to have a nice writing instrument. The second is to find a journal you like, physical size and paper weight. The third is to carry them both with you at all times and use them. Words will appear.

The story of the lost pens sounds familiar…. 😉
A good tool is essential to good work. Interesting how several have “crossed your path” over the years.

Yep, I’ve written about it before. No sure I’ve posted this image. I realized how long I wrote with that pen when I discovered the image. It’s snowing this morning and 14 degrees at 6:30 am.

I used to journal but have lost the incentive or perhaps the knack. I love a good pen and fine writing paper but my chicken scratch script voids all the beauty of the pen and paper. Each time I see these images I get the itch to try again. My fountain pens have dried but shopping for new ones can be fun 🙂

I know that it can become another consumer item. Each new pen discovered can create the itch to buy. I know from experience. 😁 Similar to camera gear.

This is certainly the place I would come to for experienced advice when it comes to pens and journals. I seem to usually have an issue with bleed-thru of pages when I was just using some journals for note-taking. It seems like good advice to have it with you all the time, just like some of the advice on cameras. Problem is, I don’t go anywhere much these days. 🙂 🙂

My Leuchtturm1917 notebooks that usea lined 80 g/m² paper and in a size A5 hardcover. I’ve learned what inks bleed more than others. I lean towards Pilot, Pelikan, Monteverde and now Colorverse inks. We received 14 inches of snow yesterday so I never left the condo. It’s 7 degrees outside now so I may not today. Haven’t looked at the mountains but I assume the got as much if not more.
