It was 17 degrees at 7:33 am when I took this image. I was bundled up while the geese, well, they seemed to be singing a song of joy while drifting in frigid water or sleeping on thin ice. Pure insanity to us humans! After taking this image, I headed to Pineridge Natural area to bask in the sun’s bright warmth and journal. Picked up a mocha on the way so it took me about 25 minutes to arrive at the natural area parking lot. It had already warmed up to 18 degrees. Not toasty yet but an increase nonetheless. Some will think I’m insane for starting my day this way but both the geese and I say to heck with them. I enjoy these gifts of silence, the clear blue skies and the warm sun shining on me. To make it complete, when I got home I enjoyed a rather dry day old donut. 😁Do I know how to live or what?

Retired. Having fun with photography. Journal daily. Meditate daily. Learning haiku/poetry. Have a love for fountain pens.

Day-old donuts are made for dunking, Monte!

I’d say that, cold or not, that’s a splendid way to start the day. The geese are smarter than we give them credit for, and haven’t been spoiled by things like heaters! 😉

Embarrassed that I had to Google what a mocha is. I think I will have to try that!

One must get up early to capture a scene like this. Love the sun peeking through the trees. I suppose the geese are planning their day. 🙂

Yes, we must have at least one mocha latte or white mocha or caramel or hazelnut or …. at least once in our life.
I am an early riser and have been for years and don’t hold it against me. I’m also one to head for bed early. Just not a night owl as I was in the younger years. As for the geese planning their day, it’s probably deciding where to fly off to and graze for the day.

I’ll pass on the stale donut but sure would like some words to rise more often. Lately, it seems like trying to find a matching sock.

I ask for words but do not always get them. We have a barista at the Bean Cycle who always wears mismatched socks. Trending. 😁 I’ve seen where they now sell pairs of mismatched socks in stores.
