    Its Snowing

    Fisher Nature Trail
    Fisher Nature Trail

I noticed clouds building up along the mountain ridges late yesterday afternoon. A good sign that the weatherman would be right this time on their forecast. I also noticed their forecast of not getting above freezing. Well, I awoke this morning to cold and snow. I think we have 5-6 inches of the blowing fine powder and sitting around 24 degrees. Roads are slick, schools are  closed, and I used the dogs and sled to get to the coffeehouse. The snow is suppose to stop in a couple hours and then get colder. Stay warm!

… at her favorite coffeehouse. This image was taken Saturday at a favorite coffeehouse. I just love the lighting on her face and her expression. It was just beginning to snow, bringing us about 4 inches of accumulation. Sunday morning was cold. It was 14 degrees by the time I walked to the coffeehouse. A fresh snowfall is so beautiful as nature takes on it’s winter artistry. Stay warm!

    The Thinker
The Thinker at the Bean Cycle coffeehouse

A few facts for those who are interested. I did not know this but the Thinker was initially a figure in a large commission, begun in 1880, for a doorway surround called The Gates of Hell. The sculpture, Auguste Rodin, based this on The Divine Comedy of Dante, and most of the many figures in the work represented the main characters in the epic poem. Some critics believe The Thinker, at the centre of the composition over the doorway was originally intended to depict Dante at the gates of Hell, pondering his great poem.

It is snowing large beautiful snowflakes as I type this post. I like these flakes as they are much needed by us. Again, I frown on the cold that comes along with these systems. Down into the teens tonight. Stay warm.

At one time we had barns rather than garages. We opened the door manually rather than with a remote. We had a horse or two, maybe a cow parked in it. There were no oil spots on the concrete floor but we did have other stuff on the floor. Along the walls were hanging the gear we needed to ride our horse or maybe a buggy. Anyway here is an image from a barn at the Superstition Mountains Museum near Apache Junction, AZ.

    An Unknown Cacti

    An Unknown Cacti

Wikipedia says there are about 1,500 to 1,800 species of cacti. They may be right. I am amazed at the variety of them I find while walking in my parents neighborhood. And, the shapes and colors are astounding. Even though this is not a big blooming time for them there are some with blossoms on them. My dad and I searched for identification of this cacti but we were not able to identify it. So, it’s just a cactus with a pretty flower.

I have been enjoying my time with my parents. Seems my pants are tighter around the waist. Shrinkage is either due to the dry climate down here or my mothers baking. Yesterday she baked cookies. I ate more than my share as I do not want to hurt her feelings. I head home on Saturday to face the cold again but also want to be home.
