I was listening to an audio recording of Alan Watts, as I do almost every night, and he was talking about the same thing as in your quote, basically: Suffering is based on desire. Not the desire for things, per se, but the desire that things never change. Grasping. To make things the way that they “used to be” – “the good old days”.

I have some good quotes by him. I’ve not read any of his books or listened to his recordings. He acquired a state of mind and acceptance of life many never come close to.

There are two of his audio books that I really like: The Way of Zen and You’re It. I think that you’d get something out of either or both of those books. I’ve read many more of his, but those are my favorites.
