Well, it’s about 3 weeks till Winter Solstice. Thankfully, we’ve only had a couple of light snowfalls this fall. Most of our trees are barren of their leaves, allowing the birds and squirrels nests to be are easily seen. The few leaves we do see on branches are those who refuse to give it up and hang on, or they are the ones caught among branches on their decent to the ground. I noticed this group of three leaves from a tree above, tangled in the branches of a bush. They were easily seen as I walked by since they were at eye level. So nature offered this simple image, who many would not see, and I accepted the image.

Lines and Shadows
Whenever my sister, Sheree, and I go down to visit at Thanksgiving our dad always had some pre-cut piece of wood for us to carve. so, we sit on the back patio and carve to our hearts desire. I think I took a similar image like this last year so I apologize if it looks similar.

Woodcarving
This is two of my dads carvings. The first one is two hearts connected at their base and carved from one piece of wood, Birdseye Maple. The carvings in the background are small elephants with intertwined trunks. This is my dads, creative outlet and a great form of therapy.

Enjoying the Holidays
We returned to home on Saturday evening after enjoying time with family over the Thanksgiving holiday. We had great weather in Phoenix and of course great food. What was most wonderful was all the laughter and conversations. 🙂

Heading Home
“If someone does not smile at you be generous and offer your own smile.
Dalai Lama
Nobody needs a smile more than the one that cannot smile to others.”This is last night’s sunset on my sisters patio. We head home this afternoon to cooler weather. Sure have enjoyed the family time.

Practice Nonviolence
“The more we practice nonviolence in our words, thoughts and actions
the more peaceful will be our inner state.”My sister and I are leaving for Phoenix today. Going to spend thanksgiving with our parents and our sister and favorite brother-in-law. Hopefully there will not be any frost down there. We should be coming back next weekend unless we somehow lose our return tickets.

Simple Lines
This the scene I noticed in the alley as I came out of the parking garage in Old Town. Light and shadows. Shot shot this in black and white also but preferred the color image this time.

The Grass
As I walked out of Lory Student Center I noticed the back lit grasses and made another attempt at capturing and image I’d like. I have not been pleased with my images of back lit grasses but this one I’m pleased with.

Just a Baby
I encountered this 6 inch tall snowman last week at campus. Wonder what his name should be and where’s his/her hat?
Have a great week!

Bicyclist on a cold morning near campus
Walked to a coffeehouse last week to meet a friend for a cup of coffee and their breakfast enchiladas. The temperature was somewhere between 25 and 30 degrees (F). I am still surprised how many people in Fort Collins ride bicycles in all sorts of weather. They just gear up for whatever nature brings on. I’m actually envious of their commitment to riding.
