They have a distinct and lovely song I just love. They lean the head back and let it the world know of their presence. It’s even more enjoyable when there are more than one bird singing.

Very cool – I’ve seen a few meadowlark images from you now – must be nice to have a good spot for them. I’ve only photographed them once, and it was about an hour and a half drive away to get to the spot where I heard they frequent.

Yes, I am lucky to have several places nearby where I can enjoy watching and listening to them. Took this image with the 70-300mm and a 50% crop. Still turned out satisfactory for me. While I’m lucky to have them near I am not as lucky with all the birds found in your neck of woods. One bird I so enjoyed when I worked in Ohio was the red cardinal. For me to find a spot for cardinals would be more than a hour and a half drive.

That’s funny. I usually have no less than 5 or 6 red cardinals in my yard on any particular day, yet I rarely photograph them there. Kinda strange eh?
