    I must stay present…

    August 15, 2020
Leaves and shadows on the sidewalk at the coffee shop but I must stay present

    Have a great Friday

    May 8, 2020
Student life at Lory Student Center

This image was taken last fall when campus was still open and students were in classrooms. Some would call it normal, but was it? I’m sitting in my bedroom looking out at overcast skies and a bright but diffused sun. The robins awoke me before dark with their gentle song. I must say it’s much better than waking to an alarm. Not much on my mind this morning, foggy thinking. Have a great Friday and upcoming weekend.

    …that’s a good thing.

    May 5, 2020
The twisted shadows on campus from yesterday

Well the damage to my car is costing me $380 and the raccoon got away. Called my insurance and my deductible is $500. I had some anger as I thought through this thing, both the insurance company and the raccoon. This is the first time I’ve filed a claim in my 54 years of paying insurance premiums. So, my insurance has yet to pay anything, they’ve only taken my money. Of course this also means I’ve never been in a place to need it and that’s a good thing.

    The Emporium

    The Emporium in Old Town

I took this image on a cold night this past December. A tripod was required for the star effect on the street light.

    Keeping his hands warm

    Coffee on the bus

Took this while on the bus a couple days ago. Looks like he was using it as a hand warmer.

    A Common Scene

    February 22, 2020
Student life at Lory Student Center

It was snowing when I took this image at the Legacy Lounge in the Lory Student Center last week. You couldn’t see the mountains but today we have have clear skies and it is now 54 degrees. That’s warm to most of us this time of the year. But, that will change tonight as a front moves in and we get another 1-2 inches tonight and tomorrow. This student had his laptop open but he was looking at his smartphone. A common scene nowadays.

The Warmth of the Coffee Shop

    February 20, 2020
It’s cold outside but nice and warm inside the coffee shop

    A Blessing of Solitude
“May you recognize in your life the presence, power, and light of your soul. May you realize that you are never alone, that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe. May you have respect for your own individuality and difference. May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that you have a special destiny here, that behind the facade of your life there is something beautiful, good, and eternal happening. May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride, and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.”

    Happy Valentines Day

    February 14, 2020
Light snow is falling while students wait for bus on a cold February morning

“When it’s over, I want to say: all my life
I was a bride married to amazement.
I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.

When it is over, I don’t want to wonder
if I have made of my life something particular, and real.
I don’t want to find myself sighing and frightened,
    or full of argument.

I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.”
    Mary Oliver
