Here’s the final product from Fridays project. Not too bad. We had the perfect day for it as it rained/drizzled all day and never got above 46 degrees. And yesterday we were back up to 85 degrees, so goes our Colorado weather. The only thing we changed on the recipe was omitting the salt. And, that was because we didn’t have any. 🙂 It was a good way to spend a wet and cold fall day! Enjoy your Sunday.

Hippies Use Backdoor
I walk by this home on a regular basis, see the sign, smile and but have always hesitated to take a photo. This morning was different. In fact I took two images. The home is across the street from campus and from the looks and location I assume it’s residents are college students. There was a time when I would have followed the sign. 🙂

It’s a Cortado Morning
“Don’t just read for information, read for formation.”
It’s only 45 degrees this morning and not expected to get above 55 today. And the low tonight of 39 degrees. Today does not feel like fall but more like winter. The grey skies have no contrast in color, just a dell gray, reminding me of the winters in Ohio.
Had a friend invite me this morning to peel and core apples then bake a pie. Seems to be a day for that sort of creativity. Of course I’m assuming we will have to eat a piece to check out our work. I’ll let you know! 🙂
After I post this and leave the coffee shop, I will head back home for some reading and writing. Me time! And, of course take time for some prayer and meditation. More me time. Right now it’s cortado time then off the make and bake a pie. 🙂

Study time?

Students enjoying the sun before the colder weather arrives.
Daryian and I I found a quiet spot on Monday morning at the patio of the Behavioral Sciences Building. Turned out to be a good place to write and read. I noticed these young ladies basking in the cloud filtered sun as I was leaving. One was on a laptop the other two were on their phones. If we use those numbers then only 33% of the students were studying. 🙂
Wanted to post one more image. Today my oldest grandson, Daryian, turned 25. So here’s a photo when Daryian was around 1 and his grandpa. Happy birthday, Daryian!

My Personal Gardener
We have our first frost warning of the 2018 fall season tonight. Goodbye summer. These daisies are located on the median strip at the north entrance of campus. I walk by this spot each morning I walk to Mugs coffee shop. I like how the school landscapers change these flowers throughout the summer season at this spot It is never the same. I posted an image of tulips earlier in the summer that were in this same spot. Feels like I have a personal gardener.

Walking the Camera
Now I know. It’s a 1.8 mile walk across campus to Mugs coffee shop for a dollar cup of Java. If I wanted to wait an hour or so I could have caught the bus to the transit center then walked a block or two. I’ve never checked the distance so this morning I checked it with my new Fitbit. I didn’t think that was right so I checked Google Maps and sure enough, both said 1.8 miles.
I bought the Fitbit since I’m doing a lot more walking in my attempt to match Paul. I used to walk more but I have slacked off the past 3-5 years. Well, I walk but not for the distance Paul goes for nor do I get my heart rate up to high. Working on that.

Gratitude Lists
Saturday afternoon and sitting on the patio of a local coffee shop. CSU is playing a football game so pretty much have the place to myself. A beautiful day. It was 47 degrees this morning at 7:00 am and is now 83 degrees with clear blue skies. The cool breeze is refreshing.
Every day is a day for gratitude. Over the past few years I’ve acquired the habit of making gratitude lists in my journals. Some days it’s only one thing and some days it’s a longer list. A list is important for me as a visual person, something written in black and white that I can see. Today I’m grateful for the details in this dandelion. Do you write out a gratitude list?
Enjoy your weekend!

I Love Clouds
I love clouds. They are art. They are alive, a part of nature. They hold within them great power. They bring us moisture. They can bring us devastation. They are ever changing. I love clouds.

Sunbeams

Sunbeams ove the Rocky Mountains
Found a place to journal Spent some time yesterday afternoon at Fossil Creek Reservoir as I again needed to distance myself from the constant man-made noise within the city. I don’t make it out there very often and after returning wonder why I don’t. It is one of the larger nature areas in the city. It’s primarily a place for birds. During early spring part of it is closed due to nesting eagles. While enjoying my time there I saw an eagle, a heron, several white pelicans, a lot of Canada Geese and ducks. It is a birders haven as there are many more birds that visit the nature area. You may see and hear more about this area.
