It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.
Ernest Hemingway
I so enjoy my bicycle rides, even the sweating. I took the long-cut home from the coffee shop this morning, so I got in an 11.9-mile bicycle ride. I noticed this turtle sunbathing on the way home and of course needed to take a snapshot. Have a wonderful Sunday and happy June 1st!

That’s a great photograph, and would be even without the sunbather!
One of the many things that Kathy & I have learned from our travels is that you don’t gain an appreciation for the terrain of a place by looking at Google Maps. Like walking or hiking, riding a bicycle is an immersion in the terrain. My cycling days are long past but I remember those hills – up and down!
Happy June!

Yes, the bicycle riding has opened a whole new perspective as a photographer for me.
