We did not regard the mountains and forests as wilderness; we called it home.

I found this quote and realized how truly distant we are from nature. It would be interesting to know how many people in the world never step foot into nature or even consider calling it home. Anyway, I roamed around in my archives to find images of mountains and forests to go along with the quote. I found the pickings rather slim because I am attached more to the open landscapes of the prairie rather than mountains even though I live in Colorado. Go figure! I found this image taken on the Foothills Parkway in the Great Smoky Mountains back in October of 2003 with my trusty Nikon D100. It has been cool and cloudy here today but no rain. I put on a crockpot of chicken tortilla soup this morning since it was going to be a cooler day. I got my Covid and RSV shots about 4 hours ago and no side effects so far. I hope you are enjoying your day!

Yes. And how would I like it if those who call these life-filled places home ran a bulldozer thru MY living room?! Beautiful pairing, Monte of the Smokey Mts. and the quote. Thank you for all of your effort to bless us with both today. (Sorry for my snarky comment, I guess I am a little touchy today about this Precious Earth Mother.)

I picked up, nothing snarky about your comment. To me, it is a very relevant question to ask and keep asking. I am not sure if you have ever visited that park, but they are a beautiful mountains and forests. Hope you too are doing well!!

I love the quote! That’s a really great photo of the Great Smoky Mountains Monte. Finding mountains and forest may have been slim pickings for you but you came up with a quality image. They say by Tuesday next week we should get some temperatures that actually start to feel like fall. I’m ready to get out of shorts and t-shirts and into long pants and real shirts, even a jacket or two. I do love soups when it’s cool.

Good morning my friend. I’m late getting back to you because I was under the weather yesterday. Yes, this is a nice photograph of the Smoky Mountains. I feel like I am a better photographer now and would like to go back and see what I’d bring home now. I hope those forecasters are right. It seems a lot of this country needs to have some fall weather. It is supposed to be cloudy today with possible thunderstorms. This afternoon. I hope you enjoy your weekend.

My only concern to a slower than usually reply here is for you being okay. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure my comment won’t expire! 😄
Monte Stevens
No it should not expire. I just realized I had not responded and sometimes that is okay also.
