    Back in Colorado…

My sister and I returned from Phoenix about 5 pm yesterday. It was a good trip for us. The only hiccup was realizing on the shuttle ride from the parking lot to the terminal that I left my phone in my car. I had no time to go back for it so I was without a phone from Wednesday morning until Saturday evening. Without the phone I had no ability to call, text message or check email. I think I handled it well. But, I did get some ribbing from my siblings and it provided many opportunities for bantering and teasing. All good stuff!

    Somewhere over southern Colorado

We also had overcast skies and some rain while there so it was much cooler than past visits. We have made it an annual thing to get together every Thanksgiving, or at least the week before. During this family gathering time we pass around a wood Santa carved by all of us which you can read about here. This is my year to have Santa at my place. And, of course there was an abundance of wonderful food to go along with conversation and laughter.

I loved seeing and visiting with my dad. He is still as sharp as a tack for being 96 but I could see the physical aging of the body. He is slow and unstable getting up and getting around, needing to use a walker or a cane. He tires quickly due to the congestive heart issues and the edema. However, I would expect these things with anyone his age. We also never know when will be the last time all of us will be together. It makes each visit and the family time even more precious.

    Misty and Cool

Love the wave patterns across the reservoir

Thunderstorms moved through yesterday afternoon, messing up quite a few plans for the 4th of July. I heard this morning they evacuated City Park due to lightning then reopened later and went on with the fireworks display in the evening. Sometime during the night I awoke to more thunderstorms, lightning and rain. I went to my granddaughters yesterday afternoon for a BBQ. I over ate and ate more meat than my body is used to so I did not sleep well. Nor do I feel all that well today. When will I learn?

It has been cloudy, misty and cool. Had morning coffee at Starry Night then met a friend for breakfast. Went to Watson Lake this afternoon to journal. However I spent my time taking photos. This is Watson Lake with the mountains shrouded by low lying clouds. The small white dust spot on the right side of the image is a lone pelican. Again, the clouds draw me in. Hope you enjoyed your Wednesday.

    Just Clouds

I’m not into the 4th of July celebrations as in the past. They have lost their allure for me. However, that is not true for me with twilight hours and clouds. Our weather forecast calls for possible thunderstorms later today which will put a damper on some peoples plans. Since we were expecting overcast skies I drove east to find the open vistas and take in the beauty of the early morning clouds, their patterns, and their colors. A touch of pink was offered for a short period of time so I stopped the car and accepted the above image.

Driving home a few minutes later, 11 minutes to be precise, I noticed these clouds in the west and again stopped the car to accept the image. I have been invited to my youngest granddaughters for a BBQ later this afternoon. Hope you enjoy your holiday and be safe!!!

I’ll end with a prayer that we become known as a nation of peace rather than as a destructive military power (repeatedly proving that peace has never come through violence), consumerism, greed, wealth, corruption, racism, and inflated pride.

    A quick post….

    Tree Decorations
    Tree Decorations

… then off to meet a friend for coffee and conversation. I will be taking down the tree today or tomorrow, so I thought I’d pst at least one image of the tree decorations. It seemed like the gift giving this year had a special meaning. My youngest daughter helped pick out gifts for my grandchildren so they were happy with what they received. I also did not spend much money this year as I did not have much money to spend on them. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

    Happy Thanksgiving

    Sunrise at Arapahoe Natural Area

As each day comes to us refreshed and anew, so does my gratitude renew itself daily.  The breaking of the sun over the horizon is my grateful heart dawning upon a blessed world.

I’m thankful for my health, my spiritual life, my family and friends, time in nature, and sunrises and sunsets. I think what I’m talking about is all of creation. I also pray for the much needed peace in our world. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Colors of San Antonio

I spent the 4th of July walking along the San Antonio River in San Antonio, also known as the River Walk. We enjoyed ourselves by people watching, window shopping, taking a boat ride, stuffing ourselves with Mexican food yet leaving room for ice cream and enjoying the colors. No fireworks this year due to the dry conditions.

We ate at a restaurant called Michelinos/Cafe Ole. I would not recommend them as I felt the price was too high for the service and quality of the meal. This plate does look good but  at fifteen dollars was too pricey. The chicken was so dry I had to cut through it with a knife. But let me tell you the sauce on the chicken had a kick to it, that I liked. We found the tables were too close, making it almost impossible to move without bumping into the table next to us. On a scale of 1-5 I give it a 2.

Now this little one was enjoying the food. At first she was mesmerized  with the site and sound of the fajitas her mother had ordered. She would try and grab the steam rolling off the sizzling plate. Mom then gave her small portions of her meal which the little one enjoyed. She would pound on the table to let mom know she wanted more.
