    In order for the world to become peaceful, people must become more peaceful. Among mature people war would not be a problem – it would be impossible. In their immaturity people want, at the same time, peace and the things which make war. However, people can mature just as children grow up. Yes, our institutions and our leaders reflect our immaturity, but as we mature we will elect better leaders and set up better institutions. It always comes back to the thing so many of us wish to avoid: working to improve ourselves.

    filled with mystery…

Yet even the smallest of glimpses can sustain us. Mystery seems to have the power to comfort, to offer hope, and to lend meaning in times of loss and pain.     I changed up my morning routine. I got up early, made my necessary trip to the bathroom, made the bed, made a chai latte then headed up to Pineridge Natural Area for sunrise. As I pulled into the parking lot, I was greeted by two coyotes. I told them I was here to witness and photograph the sunrise and share the quiet of this sacred place with them and they could go ahead and continue their hunting. They turned and scampered up the ridge. After a few minutes of quiet time in my car I moved out to a location where I have another uncomfortable rock to sit on and where I like to take photographs. It was almost the perfect temperature and I loved the refreshing breeze. I enjoyed the singing of the meadowlarks and robins and the clouds were stunning. All of this reminded me of the blessing it is to live where I do and the gift of life. When I returned home, I had my meditation time, then mounted the red steed and rode to Mugs. Adriana made me my Old Town mocha and I enjoyed conversations with Jeff, Curtis, Terri, and Joan. I do not consider my life ordinary in the least but feel it is filled with mystery.

    There are those moments when I am touched at some deep level when taking images such as this and, more importantly, the opportunity to witness scenes like this. Photography has allowed me to slow down and experience those sacred moments. Our friend Earl is spot on when he says these moments are transforming and revitalizing. At this stage in my life I ask myself the question, “How much love is actually being shared between me and Nature herself?” Just asking that question now is transformative and revitalizing. I agree when Earl mentions in his post about this chaotic world. Seems to me it is in need of a touch of heaven.

    I spent some time today at Arapaho Bend Natural Area. As I approached the area, I noticed the clouds to the west over the mountains and knew there was a photograph of these clouds reflected in Rigden Reservoir if I walked to the east edge of the reservoir. Unfortunately the clouds aren’t as dramatic as they were a few minutes prior to this image but that’s the way it goes sometimes. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
