Sunrise from a couple of weeks ago and worked in HDR Efex ProI. My parents have been out visiting and I sure enjoyed the time with them. They are headed back today so I pray for safe travels. I do hope everyone has a great weekend.
My online journal where I share my interests in photography, nature, journaling, fountain pens, bicycling, coffee life, spirituality and the mystery of it all.
My sister has a small fountain in her backyard. I love the soothing sound that it makes. I was amazed to watch the bees and wasps as they gathered around the fountain to take in water. Since bees are not know to be good swimmers they prefer to find water in small puddles. The bees find all the small pebbles around the fountain, perch on the pebbles and begin lapping up the water. Nature gave me another lesson.
I headed out east yesterday to follow some of the storm clouds as they moved across the eastern plains. They even stirred up a few tornados. Even had a funnel cloud spotted near DIA. All together I drove about a hundred miles, took a few images and picked up a speeding ticket that’s gonna cost me $145. It was almost a perfect day. 🙂
On my way to the Old Market area for a bite to eat I noticed this young man waiting for the bus. I stopped, took one image and walked on while he waited. Dinner was good, also. Processed with Silver Efex Pro.
“Creative people are constantly asking What If? They work with challenges constantly and don’t focus on them, they focus on the potential outcomes. They’re positive and not easily put off by failure. They resonate with the words of Buckminster Fuller: “There is no such thing as a failed experiment, only experiments with unexpected outcomes.” They understand that creation is a process, not a product, and that mistakes are some of the best tools for learning lessons and finding new directions.” David Dechumin
The above quote is from a post by David DeChumin on creativity. I’ve been following him for 2-3 years, read all but one of his books and know he stresses we focus on our creativity. Anyway I’m going to share the link in case anyone wants to check it out.
Something called as I walked by these recessed stairs and saw the lines created by the building and shadows. There were no bells or whistles just something caused me to stop and really look. I took a lot of images. I no longer saw green or stairs or shadows but knew there was an image here for me and maybe some others.
“At the root of creativity is an impulse to understand, to make sense of random and often unrelated details. For me, photography provides an intersection of time, space, light, and emotional stance. One needs to be still enough, observant enough, and aware enough to recognize the life of the materials, to be able to ‘hear through the eyes.”
Paul Caponigro
Hopefully I’m learning to be a listener. It is at the heart of any solid conversation. We cannot communicate well if we are only a talker, we have to be a listener as well. It seems that Paul Caponigro is saying we need to be listening to all that is around us to bring forth creativity in our photography.
I would also like to share a link to David LeLand Hyde’s post from Thursday. I suggest checking it out.
“As people alive today, we must consider future generations: a clean environment is a human right like any other. It is therefore part of our responsibility toward others to ensure that the world we pass on is as healthy, if not healthier, than we found it.” Dalai Lama
Here’s an image taken last weekend on my overnight in Omaha just after they had a rain shower. Sure wish we had some of that rain now to help with the forest fires here in Colorado.
When classes are in session at Colorado State University, these racks are full with every conceivable bicycle you can think of, color, shape, style and brand. So, when I rode across campus yesterday and saw the empty racks at the dormitories, I had to stop and take a shot.
Well, the fire season in Colorado has started. As I rode home I could hardly make out the mountains due to the haze. The closer I came to my condo the more I realized the haze was really smoke. I started smelling it. So, when I got home I checked and to my dismay, Colorado has three fires burning: one near the Royal Gorge, one near Black Forest and one in the Rocky Mountain National Park. All three started Monday from lightening. I’ll probably be posting some images and giving you updates.
I’ve watched this dog sit patiently as the owner stops in to get her coffee. Well this morning I approached the owner and asked if I could take a photo of her patient dog.it seems this dog waits in almost this same position each morning. The head is supported on the window with little movement while the eyes scan from side to side. No barking. It’s like there is a trust and belief she will return very shortly. So, I’ll just wait. 🙂
” The best thing one can do when its raining is let it rain.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Nothing like walking around after a rain with a camera in hand. Scenes are to be found and I so love the smell of fresh rain.
