Our work…

“Our work, rather, is to help reawaken the sense of the sacred that is already deep in the human soul,
our primordial relationship with nature, our ancient mother love of the earth.
We can be part of its rising again.”

John Philip Newell

My recovery is moving along, slowly but surely. I am sleeping in later but I am sleeping restless. They have me sleeping with an oxygen concentrator at night which could be the culprit. I also do take naps throughout the day but I will rest when my body lets me know. I am going to venture out to the coffee shop in the morning. Since I can’t drive yet Jeff will pick me up and we will make a frontal attack on Mugs on Laurel. We are not giving them any warnings, either. We have had intermittent clouds and sunshine today and reached 60 degrees. The sun has set and I am enjoying an Earl Gray Tea. I hope you had a good day!

Recovery sounds good at any speed, Monte, and I’m sure going to Mugs will help you feel better. Keep moving forward! I think we all have a bond with nature, though it can show up in different ways for different people. Still, I probably wouldn’t call it special, magical or sacred, because that can make it seem a bit exclusive. Love the colors in this photo.

I think Thich Nhat Hanh says that the miracles in life are not the butterfly, sunrise or flower. The miracle is walking on this earth and being awake. The more we talk about that miracle the more effect we have on society. Nature is not exclusive and we are a part of it.

Well I have skipped the past couple of days. Since being homebound my photography has been limited but that is not excuse for not writing a post. We sure do not want our millions of readers worrying.

Hi Monte, I was about to send my traditional one-word call for a coffee/chat, but it has been such a while, I checked your blog. And again, as always, the treasure therein both grounds me and lifts me. Your photos and quotes pour out such beauty. And I know now of your recent times with surgery (!). And so your posts stir up extra you caring and relief of the expectation of continued healing. Boy, the flux of life, huh?

I’ve been living in my CA cottage in the forest, preparing to sell it. I’ve wondered how I could get you to come do a redwood/wild beaches photo tour. I’ve had two Red Feather friends come visit already. I have an actual guest room! Now I see that that can’t be too soon, but it will remain on my wishlist. I came to FC to have Christmas with my girls and got stuck here for jury duty. I’d love to see you. If that can happen, text a word. Take care, my friend.
