I treated myself to something new this morning at Mugs, called Bacon Toast. It is bacon, avocado, sprouts, feta cheese and drizzled with balsamic glaze over sourdough toast. It was well worth my money. My day has been quiet. After my ride to the coffee shop and time with the community I celebrate there, I made sure I ate a couple hot dogs with chips and a piece of peach pie. It wouldn’t be the 4th without the hot dogs! Not the healthiest eating day for me but… I hope you enjoyed your celebration of our 250th anniversary.

We enjoyed the 4th with family and friends in our former hometown in Ohio. We left before the fireworks but enjoyed numerous displays along the turnpike on the return to our motel.
Fried chicken and homemade ice cream for us, but whatever the menu we hope it was a good day for all!

Sounds like fun to be with family. And there are several families out there that have a tradition of fried chicken for the 4th. And growing up, we always had homemade ice cream.

It’s funny—Bonnie asked me yesterday what I thought a typical 4th of July meal was, and I said hot dogs and hamburgers. Ironically, we didn’t have either, so you were actually more traditional than we were! I love avocado and feta cheese, so that bacon toast sounds delicious to me, but Bonnie wouldn’t go near it since she’s not a fan of either. It was a good and quiet day here, while trying to stay cool.

Over the last several years the one thing I’ve made sure I do on the 4th of July is either have a hamburger or a hot dog. And let Bonnie know even though she does not like avocado or feta cheese, she’s still a keeper! It looks like you may be getting some rain showers out there and hope it cools you down. We have reached a scorching 95 degrees today.
