I saw the patterns and the shadow, raised the camera and took two shots. Moved on. I do not remember what my thinking process was nor will I dwell on it. I’d like to believe it was the whisper of my muse.

Door Handles
There is only you and your camera.
Ernst Haas
The limitations in your photography are in yourself,
for what we see is what we are. These limitations within me are like closed doors. My task is to open them. I think Ernst has some neat quotes.

Flowers and a Bee
I plopped down on the ground and braced my elbows on my knees to get images of these flowers. The bees were all over the place so I impatiently waited for one of them to come into the viewfinder then shot’em. No harm was done to the flower or the bee. Got the seat of my pants wet but us photogs don’t care. We walk back to our car with dirty britches. 🙂
Hope everyone has a good August!

It’s Saturday Morning
The Common Goldeneye is a medium-sized sea duck. They are divers finding most of their food from crustaceans, aquatic insects and molluscs. The adult males have a dark head with a greenish gloss and a circular white patch below the eye, a dark back and a white neck and belly while the adult females have a brown head and a mostly grey body. Definitely not as showy as us males. Their legs and feet are orange-yellow. I enjoy sitting by the waters edge watching as they dive, playing the waiting game with myself to see where they resurface.
I started a 4-day trip yesterday so when you read this I should be sitting on the patio at my hotel in Santa Barbara eating breakfast. Sometimes there are perks with my work. 🙂

Make sure you get my best side …..

The Photographer and the Model
A Good Day for Sailing I want to believe these are the words the seagull is wanting to tell this photographer. And if not it at least makes for an interesting title to this post. Most portraits need a model, so this guy found a willing model for his portrait. I had to smile as I took this image because I was lucky enough to find two models, one being the photographer. I’m also assuming the seagull is expecting something in return for the few poses offered, which did not happen. This was taken on Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara. It was also a good for sailing.

Just as Simple …..
… as yesterday’s image. For me when extra stuff is eliminated in the view finders it makes an image simple, pleasing. We do not need to know much about the location or time of day. We just present what we see.

Pretty Simple
These are the spires on a sculpture near out hotel in Wichita, KS. As I took the image I cropped all the stuff around them then converted to black and white. Pretty simple.

A Sunday Afternoon
The patio is empty on a Sunday afternoon which helped me with this image. With all the lines in this image I think having people standing around would have distracted from the image.
