The old part of Omaha has some interesting architecture. I’m always interested in the older building which always seem to last longer than newer construction. These doors are located near Old Market area where you will not have trouble finding a restaurant to satisfy your taste buds.

Preening at Sunset One of the arguments we often use for not writing is this: “I have nothing original to say. Whatever I might say, someone else has already said it, and better than I will ever be able to.” This, however, is not a good argument for not writing. Each human person is unique and original, and nobody has lived what we have lived. Furthermore, what we have lived, we have lived not just for ourselves but for others as well. Writing can be a very creative and invigorating way to make our lives available to ourselves and to others. We have to trust that our stories deserve to be told. We may discover that the better we tell our stories the better we will want to live them.”

Fallen Leaves
Fallen Leaves As I mentioned in my last post, when going for our walks, we will sometimes see those things we walk by many times before but have never seen. But, at other times, we will visually see those things that weren’t there the last time we walked that same path. It could be a new sign placed in a store window, road or sidewalk construction, a rainbow after the rain, a broken tree branch from a storm, a cottontail rabbit munching on grass, or fallen leaves on the pavement from strong winds, such as above.

High afternoon shadows in Colorado Springs One more walk around my hotel and I see something I had not seen before. Missed it. Strange what each of us will see as we walk around with a camera. So many factors determine what we will find in our viewfinder. How rested we are. Are we present to the moment or lost in thought? Our health. Our spiritual state.

Wrong feet? No wonder! At the end of the day when you can finally sit down and take your shoes off, check those socks. It may be the answer to why the day was rougher than usual. And we try to blame others. 🙂
